Chimney Prime began in St. Louis in 1998, when Eric and Danny Cohen decided to create a company dedicated entirely to chimney and fireplace services. Their goal was straightforward: provide knowledgeable service, explain every condition clearly, and treat each customer's home with care.

What started as a local St. Louis chimney service has grown into a trusted family-owned company serving homeowners, property managers, and businesses throughout both the St. Louis and Kansas City regions.

Two founders with one clear purpose

When Eric and Danny Cohen started Chimney Prime in 1998, they saw that many homeowners struggled to find technicians who truly understood complete chimney and fireplace systems.

A chimney is more than the visible brick structure above a roof. It includes the flue, liner, crown, cap, flashing, masonry, smoke chamber, damper, firebox, and other components that must work together properly. Problems in one area can lead to leaks, smoke issues, masonry deterioration, animal entry, or damage that becomes more expensive over time.

Eric and Danny believed this specialized work deserved the attention of a company focused on chimneys and fireplaces — not a general contractor that only occasionally works on them.

Chimney Prime initially concentrated on chimney cleaning, inspections, and routine maintenance in the St. Louis area. As more homeowners began recommending the company to friends, relatives, and neighbors, the range of services expanded to include chimney masonry repair, crown restoration, chimney caps, flashing repair, waterproofing, liners, dampers, firebox repairs, and fireplace services.

Growing across Missouri without losing the personal approach

Chimney Prime was founded in St. Louis and built its reputation one service call at a time. As the company developed, Eric and Danny recognized that homeowners in Kansas City were experiencing many of the same challenges — from aging masonry and damaged chimney crowns to water intrusion, deteriorated flashing, and fireplace systems that had not been inspected in years.

The company expanded into Kansas City to provide the same specialized approach to customers on the western side of Missouri. Chimney and fireplace problems are not always obvious. Conditions hidden inside the flue, above the roofline, or beneath damaged masonry may require a closer inspection before the correct solution can be recommended. Our process is built around clarity:

When an existing component can be repaired correctly, we do not automatically recommend replacing it. When replacement is the more appropriate long-term option, we explain why.
